DIYで理想の動く秘密基地を作る「軽キャンカー改造日記」。第8回となる今回は、車中泊に必要な装備品の収納がどこまでできるかチャレンジしていこうと思います。
Welcome back to the Kei-Van Build Log, where we turn a regular van into the ultimate secret base on wheels! In this 8th and final edition, we’re tackling our ultimate challenge: Can we actually fit all our essential camping gear into the van? Let’s find out!
1. 装備品の仕分け作業開始！ / Sorting Out the Essentials
車中泊に必要な装備品をこのかごに仕分けていきます。
First things first: let’s organize all our car-camping gear into these sorting trays.
これは一酸化炭素警報器。車中泊で火を使うときは当然窓開けて換気したうえで使用しますが、万が一不完全燃焼で一酸化炭素が充満したときに教えてくれる必需品です。
This is my carbon monoxide detector. Safety first! If you’re doing any indoor cooking, you always crack the windows for ventilation, but this gadget is a total must-have to alert you if something goes wrong.
ガソリンタンクとガソリンバーナー。調理器具です、強火力と安い燃料で重宝します。
Next, my trusty gas tank and gas burner. My go-to cooking setup—intense heat and cheap fuel make this an absolute beast.
こちらはアルコール燃料で燃えるアルコールバーナー。ちょっとした湯沸しや料理の時はこちらを使います。
And here’s the alcohol burner, perfect for a quick brew or simple cooking when I want a quick, hassle-free meal.
こちらは日用品、歯ブラシや洗剤などを格納します。こちらにも固形燃料と五徳があって、調理用燃料が多いかもしれないですね(笑)
This bin holds daily amenities like toothbrushes and soap. Wait, more solid fuel and portable stoves in here too? I might have a slight obsession with backup cooking gear (lol).
こちらはロープラチェット。様々な荷物やボックスなど固定するのに重宝します。
Moving on, these rope ratchet tie-down straps are an absolute lifesaver for locking down loose boxes and securing heavy gear.
こちらはカーテン。車中泊で窓の視界を遮断するのに使います。
For privacy, I have these curtains, which are essential for blocking out the windows to get that cozy, private stealth-camping vibe.
これは消火器。車中泊では多少なりとも火を使うので、万が一に備えて用意しています。
Next is a fire extinguisher—because we’re dealing with open flames in a small space, being prepared for the worst means pure peace of mind.
テーブル兼椅子。ただ、結構スペースを使うので、折り畳み式のテーブルを近々購入予定です。Then there’s the wooden bench that doubles as a table. It’s a bit of a space hog, though, so a compact folding alternative is definitely on my radar soon!
床用マットと、毛布。春先から秋まではこれで十分です。ちなみに冬は同じものをもう一枚重ねて寝ます。マイナス10度程度でしたらこれ2枚で十分でした。
For bedding, I have a floor mat and blankets. This is perfect comfort from spring to autumn. Pro-tip for winter: Double them up, and you can easily survive a -10°C night!
予備燃料。10リットル入ります。万が一のガス欠対応です。Finally, a backup fuel can that hold 10 liters—pure reassurance against getting stranded in the middle of nowhere.
2. 軽キャンカーへの収納へ / Time to Pack the Van!
こちらが収納予定の荷物です。意外と少ない？
Looking at the pile in the wagon, you might think: “Hey, that’s not too much, right?”
まずはテーブル兼椅子。残念ながら床下に入らなかったので、拡張床スペースに収納、これがぴったり！素晴らしいです！
First up, the bulky bench/table. Bad news: it didn’t fit under the floor. Good news: It slithered into the extended floor space with absolute, centimeter-perfect precision! Pure satisfaction!
床下スペースにどんどん入れていきます。しかし、150mmのスペースは意外と制約があり。ボックスが入らない事態に。。。仕方ないのでばらして収納していきます。
Next, attacking the underfloor storage! But reality check: a 150mm clearance is tighter than it looks. The storage boxes I prepared wouldn’t fit… Time for Plan B! I unboxed the gear and packed the items individually.
側面収納状態。いい感じに収納されています。
Utilizing every inch of the side pockets, everything settled into place beautifully.
5. ついに完成！ / Mission Accomplished!
すべての荷物を収納した状態がこちら。ばっちり収納できていますね。
Check it out! Every single piece of gear is tucked away, completely out of sight!
これで、最高に快適な車中泊になりそうです！
This is going to make van life incredibly comfortable.
