Kei-Van Prototype #3 Launch! How to Create the “Ultimate Comfort Space” – Lessons from the Freezing Wilds of Hokkaido Part 4
DIYで理想の動く秘密基地を作る「軽キャンカー改造日記」。第4回となる今回は、床を完成させようと思います。
In this “Kei-Van Build Log” series, I’m DIY-ing my ideal mobile secret base. For this 4th installment, I’m going to finish up the flooring.
１．床の合板に養生テープ取り付け / 1. Applying protective tape to the plywood flooring
合板のバリでケガしないようにエッジをテープで養生していきます。表面はささくれでケガしないようにエッジだけではなく全体をテープで養生していきます。
I’m taping up the edges to prevent injuries from burrs on the plywood. To avoid getting hurt by splinters, I’m covering the entire surface with tape, not just the edges.
用意したテープがあっという間に足りなくなったので急遽補充します。
I ran out of the tape I had prepared in no time, so I had to go get a quick refill.
2.分割した床板を張り合わせる / 2. Joining the divided floor panels together
すべての合板を養生テープで張り付けたあと、板同士を蝶番で固定します。これによって床下の荷物が簡単に出せるのでとても便利になります。
After covering all the plywood with tape, I’ll join the panels together using hinges. This makes it super convenient to access gear stored under the floor.
外れにくく固定したいので木ネジではなくボルトをナットで固定していきます。
I want a secure fit that won’t come loose, so I’m using bolts and nuts instead of wood screws. and nuts instead of wood screws.
いい感じに丁番で固定できました。
Successfully fixed them with hinges—turned out great!
床を開いたところ。このような位置で固定されます。
Here’s what it looks like with the floor open. It stays propped up in this position.
３．軽バンへの組み込み / 3. Installing into the Kei-van
とりあえず支柱を仮組して軽バンに乗せてみた。いいんじゃないでしょうか！床を開けて荷物出すのも楽そうです。
I did a mock-up of the supports and tried them in the Kei-Van. Looking good! It seems like it’ll be easy to open the floor and take out luggage.
まずは支柱を組みつけます。
First, I’ll install the support pillars.
床を乗せてみました。ばっちりじゃないでしょうか！
I tried placing the floor on top. Fits perfectly, doesn’t it?
開閉できる床を開けたところ。この床下に荷物を置きます。支柱の位置は変えないと邪魔かもしれない。
Here’s the opening section of the floor. This is where the luggage will go. I might need to adjust the position of the pillars, as they might get in the way.

床下の状態。結構スペース多いです。
The state of the underfloor area. There’s quite a bit of space.
最後に延長用の追加床板も取り付けてみた。かなり広くスペースが取れそうで良い感じです！
Finally, I tried attaching an additional floor panel for extension. It looks like I’ll have a lot of space, which is great!
本日の作業はここまで！ 明日は、床下の支柱取り付けと延長床の取り付けをしていこうと思います。 That’s all for today’s work! Tomorrow, I plan to work on attaching the underfloor pillars and the extension floor.
